Utility back Matt Giteau is unlikely to be available for the Wallabies' opening Test against England in Sydney on June 11. Giteau had surgery on his right knee last month and was not named in the 33-man Wallabies squad last Monday. The 23-year-old joined the squad at its Coffs Harbour training base today, however Wallabies officials said he only had a remote chance of being cleared fit to play the world champions at Sydney's Olympic stadium. Giteau said his main focus at the moment was his rehabilitation. "I'll start doing some running slowly, some weights things like that," he said. "I'll just see how things progress that way." Wallabies coach John Connolly said he was not expecting Giteau to be fit to face England. "We're reviewing him today but it's very unlikely that he'll be available," he said. -ABC/Reuters |
