Serie B: Brescia lead, Juve march on Print E-mail
Monday, 02 October 2006

David Trezeguet continued his goal scoring form for Juventus on Saturday, bagging a brace as the fallen giants won their fourth game in a row, 2-0 against Piacenza.

Juve started well, creating a succession of chances before Trezeguet headed home a cross from Alessandro del Piero. On the stroke of half-time Pavel Nedved was fouled close to the area and Del Piero set up Trezeguet again to double the Bianconeri's lead.

Juve controlled the second half comfortably, Nedved almost scoring a third, while Padalino forced a save from Gianluigi Buffon at the other end. Juve move onto -4 points.

Brescia stayed top after a 1-1 home draw with Albinoleffe. Matteo Serafini opened the scoring on 20 minutes for Brescia, only to see Davide Caremi equalise with half an hour left in the match.

Lecce jumped up to second with a 3-2 win at home to Genoa as the teams at the top struggled. Genoa were in second place before the day's matches and took the lead halfway through the first period through Marco Rossi.

Souleymane Diamoutene equalised before Rossi restored Genoa's advantage. Martin Petras then re-established parity just before half-time.

Elizeu Juliano scored the winning goal in injury time to allow Lecce to leapfrog their opponents.

Treviso ran out 2-0 winners away to Crotone, a strike either side of half-time doing the damage. Luigi Beghetto opened the scoring after 13 minutes and Dino Fava Passaro made it two seven minutes into the second half.

Cesena are third after a 1-1 away draw in Bologna, both goals in the second half. Papa Waigo scored first for Cesena and Claudio Bellucci equalised soon after.

In other games, Pescara and Verona shared a goalless draw, Rimini drew 1-1 at home to Modena and Napoli beat Spezia 1-0 away. Vicenza lost 2-1 to visiting Frosinone.
