Albinoleffe has shot to the top of Serie B after winning away in Ravenna 2-0 thanks to goals from Cristiano and Colombo. Brescia are in second spot after thumping Pisa 3-0.
After four weeks Albinoleffe top the table, albeit ahead of a Brescia side with a game in hand. Ravenna rarely looked like scoring against Elio Gustinetti’s outfit and the deadlock was broken after the restart when Capecchi’s save on Cristiano was too late to keep the ball out of the net. Ruopolo had a shot charged down by Anzalone and deflected back into the path of a grateful Colombo for the second. Previtali could have made it 3-0 in stoppages, but was denied by a desperate Capecchi challenge. Possanzini made their intent clear within three minutes of kick-off by nodding in Mannini’s cross, then doubled his tally after the restart when combining with Feczesin. Possanzini completed his Man of the Match performance by setting up the third for Zambelli. Triestina snatched a victory that sends Spezia further into the depths of their crisis. Although the home side had more of the possession in the first half, they did precious little with it, other than a few Guidetti efforts off target. Allegretti grabbed the winner from a free kick, although goalkeeper Santoni probably should have done better.
Vicenza-Mantova: The match ended goalless, but it was not without incident, as the two goalkeepers were the stars of the show. Vicenza's Schwoch was repeatedly denied by Pegolo, while at the other end Zancope’ was decisive on Godeas, Corona and Fiore. Piacenza lift themselves off the foot of the table with their first win of the season against Bari 1-0. Miglionico popped up with the decisive goal on the hour mark, celebrating his debut in central defence, with a towering header. Miglionico nearly snatched another, but was denied by a Gazzi goalline clearance. Bari’s best opportunity was in stoppages for Lanzafame. Messina continue to struggle in these opening weeks of the campaign and Frosinone can be thankful they came away with a result from Sicily. The home side had by far the better of the play, but paid for some wasteful finishing and Sicignano’s splendid goalkeeping on Cordova, Lazzari and Biancolino. When the shot-stopper was beaten by a Degano header, D’Antoni was ready for the goalline clearance. The match ended 0-0.
