The pressure has increased on AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti as his side fell to their second consecutive Serie A defeat, losing at Genoa. Napoli came back to beat Fiorentina as Lazio and Atalanta head the Serie A table.

A goal from Genoa's Giuseppe Sculli after half-an-hour and a penalty from the returning Diego Milito in second-half injury-time decided the game in favour of a lively home team who, like Milan, had spent a lot of money in the transfer market, but appear to be getting a better return on their investment.

A tired Ronaldinho and disorientated Andriy Shevchenko lasted just 45 minutes as Milan's star ensemble, including a subdued Kaka, failed to impress once again, leaving Ancelotti struggling to find any more excuses for his side's abject start to the season.

Juventus have moved into a share of third place in Serie A alongside Torino, Inter Milan and Napoli thanks to a 1-0 win over Udinese.

The Bianconeri hit the woodwork twice and were good value for their win, which was earned by an Amauri goal in the 67th minute.

Udinese were never in the game and could have no complaints about leaving Turin empty-handed with Italy striker Antonio Di Natale rarely seeing the ball.

Tiberio Guarente has bagged his first Serie A goal to continue Atalanta's 100 percent start to the season and bring Bologna back to earth following their opening-day win at AC Milan.

The midfielder struck the only goal of the game after nine minutes as the visitors claimed their second 1-0 win in a row.
Both sides went into the game having got their campaigns off to winning starts, but it was newly-promoted Bologna who hogged the headlines after their 2-1 victory at the San Siro.

Second-half strikes from Fabio Caserta and Jose Castillo have given Lecce their first win of the season at the Stadio Via del Mare.

Caserta headed the opening goal two minutes after half-time before substitute Castillo notched his first ever Serie A goal to ensure a comfortable win.

In the battle of the newly-promoted teams the play-off winners never looked like surrendering the points to Serie B champions Chievo.

Lazio have continued their fine start to the season with a comfortable win over Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico.

After putting four goals past Cagliari in the opening game of the Serie A campaign two weeks ago there was an expectant crowd awaiting the home side in Rome, and they were treated to a goal after just seven minutes from Mauro Zarate.

Adrian Mutu has marked his return from injury with a goal but it was not enough to prevent Fiorentina from slipping to defeat against Napoli.

Mutu gave the Viola a half-time lead but second-half goals from Marek Hamsik and former Fiorentina winger Christian Maggio ensured all three points remained in Naples.

Cagliari's dismal start to the season has continued as their second defeat of the season leaves them still without a point at the bottom of the table.

Emanuele Calaio's 10th-minute opener saw Siena get off to the best possible start and despite the visitors' best efforts they could not find an equaliser.

And any hopes Cagliari had of snatching a point went out the window deep into injury-time when Abdelkader Ghezzal netted the second on his debut.

Nicola Amoruso has scored on his return to Reggina but it was not enough to maintain Torino's 100 percent start to the new Serie A season.

Amoruso, 34, joined the Turin side after three successful seasons in Reggio Calabria, in which he scored 38 goals in nearly 100 appearances for the club.

As so often happens, he duly netted against his former employers, putting the visitors ahead after 13 minutes.
But an own goal from Marco Di Loreto two minutes before half-time enabled Reggina to pick up their first point of the campaign.

Fabrizio Miccoli's brace and Coach Davide Ballardini's debut for Palermo shocked Roma 3-1 in Sicily.

It was a bad day all round for the visitors, who also lost Daniele De Rossi to a freak neck injury, but quite a debut for new Palermo boss Davide Ballardini.

Roma took the lead through new signing Julio Baptista but Fabrizio Miccoli netted twice with fellow Palermo striker Edison Cavani sealing the 3-1 victory in the 73rd minute.

Inter Milan needed a highly controversial own goal and deflected Ricardo Quaresma strike to defeat Catania 2-1 after Sulley Ali Muntari's dismissal.

Catania's Plasmati scored a wonderful header in the 42nd minute only to be repaid with freak bad luck as new Inter signing Quaresma attempted a cross just a minute later but was deflected by Catania defenders into their own net!

To make things worse another Catania defender headed the ball onto his own post which was controversially ruled to have crossed the line with replays proving inconclusive. Inter escape with the 2-1 win.
