Serie A: Inter now seven points clear as Roma draw Print E-mail
Monday, 17 December 2007
Serie A - Cagliari vs Inter MilanInter Milan continue to dominate Serie A  and have extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points thanks to a 2-0 win at Cagliari.

The Nerazzurri started the evening encounter buoyed by second-placed Roma's slip-up at Torino earlier in the day and cruised to another three-point haul in the Sardinian capital.

Julio Cruz gave Roberto Mancini's men a 57th-minute lead and David Suazo doubled their advantage with 11 minutes to go.

Roma were second best against Torino but managed to come away from the Stadio Olimpico in Turin with a goalless draw.

The hosts' Gianluca Comotto was sent off in the final minute for a nasty tackle on Alessandro Mancini.

Fiorentina registered a hard-earned 2-2 draw at Sampdoria which keeps them on the fringes of the top four.

Samp went ahead in the 18th minute when Daniele Gastaldello netted but Fiorentina turned it around with Adrian Mutu and Marco Donadel scoring either side of half-time.

In-form Palermo ended Atalanta's unbeaten run at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia Stadium this season with a 3-1 success.

Edinson Cavani opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Antonio Langella's own goal gave the visitors a 2-0 half-time lead.

Carvalho Amauri struck his team's third on 54 minutes before deflecting the ball into his own net from Fernando Tissone's effort shortly after the hour-mark.

Parma beat Reggina 3-0 to move up to 12th in the Serie A standings.

On-loan Manchester City striker Bernardo Corradi opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Andrea Pisanu doubled his side's advantage just three minutes into the second half.

And it was all over not long after the hour-mark when Massimo Paci added a third to add to joint-bottom Reggina's misery and send them back to Calabria having failed to notch up a win for the 10th consecutive away game.

Struggling Siena notched a highly-credible 1-1 draw against high-flying Napoli as they continue to inch their way away from the relegation zone.

Mario Frick opened the scoring just after the hour-mark but Mariano Bogliacino equalised 60 seconds later for Napoli.

Andrea Masiello's strike two minutes from time earned Genoa a 1-1 draw against Empoli at the Castellani Stadium.

The hosts went in at the break 1-0 up thanks to Sebastian Giovinco and were unlucky not to find themselves further ahead having twice struck the Rossoblu woodwork.

But Masiello made them pay late on to salvage a point for the Grifone.
