Australian rider Troy Corser is confident he can still win the World Superbike Championship and is aiming for a strong showing during the next race in Monza.
Sitting in fifth position in the Championship standings behind Brit James Toseland, Corser is looking forward to racing at a track where he was a winner during the 2005 superbike season.
"Monza should be a good race," Corser said.
"The circuit is all about speed and the bike has enough of it, so I'm confident of what we can achieve there."
Having won pole position 39 times during his illustrious career Corser said he would love to bring up number 40 in Monza, but the 35-year-old is more worried about the position his bike will be at come the end of the race.
"As for my 40th pole, well I'd love to get it at Monza for the team but my focus is more on getting on the front row. Pole would be an added bonus. The race is the most important thing."
During the opening race in Assen, Corser was involved in a spectacular crash which saw him tumble from his Yamaha at high speed, but after being cleared of any broken bones the two-time championship winner dusted himself off to finish a gutsy fourth in race number two.
Although disappointed at not registering any points in the opening race in Assen, Corser admitted that he has put the race behind him and is ready to concentrate on a good result in Monza.
"I've been checked out by a sports therapist and nothing's broken from the crash in Assen, there's just a lot of deep bruising," Corser said.
"I've had worse in a lot of other crashes so I'll be fine for Monza." Sportal
