 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: POLITECNICO DI TORINO

In 2006, the State of Queensland and the Regional Government of
Piemonte, Italy signed a Statement of Intent to develop collaborative
links in industry development, research and education that would result
in mutual benefits to the economy and community of each region.

The Queensland Government and the Politecnico di Torino are pleased to
offer a Scholarship opportunity for a Queensland tertiary student to
undertake a Specialised Masters Program in a range of key areas that
have been identified as being of joint interest between Queensland and
the Politecnico.   These include:

 These include:

*    Master of Navigation and Related Applications (the Galileo

System);

*    Master in Wireless Systems and Related Technologies;

*    Master in E-Business and ICT for Management.

This Scholarship is open to students who will have completed a four year

undergraduate degree (by March 2009), or are enrolled in/have completed

a Masters or PhD program at a Queensland university.  The Queensland

Government will provide A$15,000 towards the Scholarship package whilst

the Politecnico will waive tuition fees and provide a two-week Italian

immersion course and assistance in locating suitable accommodation in

Torino.  The Scholarship will commence in September 2009 and is of

one-year duration (including a three month industry internship).

The Politecnico di Torino is a leader in Europe in the field of

technical and scientific education and research.  It is located in the

centre of one of Europe's principal business and industrial regions and

many large multinational companies such as Ferrari, IBM, Compaq, Nokia,

Motorola, Pirelli and Siemens have operations in Torino and have

partnerships with the Politecnico.

This Scholarship presents an exciting opportunity for a Queensland

student to gain a specialised qualification from a highly-regarded

university in Europe, gain industry experience with a European company

and enhance their skills, qualifications and experience for seeking

employment in their chosen career.  Similarly, for a Queensland

university, this presents an excellent opportunity to further develop

collaborative links within Europe that could lead to student, staff,

research and project exchanges and collaborations.
