American Scott Speed has agreed to terms with Toro Rosso and will drive for the team during the 2007 Formula One season.
Speed will again team up with Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi, who confirmed he would stay with Red Bull's sister outfit earlier this month.
Toro Rosso was formed in 2006 after Red Bull bought out Minardi. Liuzzi scored one point last season, while Speed was 20th in the drivers' standings with no points.
Team co-owner Gerhard Berger had said Speed's appointment was delayed by 'contractual issues', according to the BBC.
"He is not at a talent stage where he doesn't need to work. If he has this, and shows this, no problem. I think we will be very happy with the two guys," Berger said.
Speed said he was most looking forward to his home grand prix at Indianapolis on June 17.
"That's the race I'm looking forward to most of all," Speed told whowon.com. "The reception I got from the fans at Indianapolis last year was incredible."
Speed, who had his first test in the Ferrari-powered STR2 on Saturday, is the first American F1 driver since Michael Andretti competed for McLaren in 1993. Sportal
