Kimi Raikkonen described his Ferrari team's result at the Belgian Grand Prix as “perfect” after he comfortably headed a 1-2 for the team on Sunday.
After locking out the front row in qualifying, the Italian squad was never troubled by the McLaren drivers while the race-winner himself convincingly stayed clear of team-mate Felipe Massa to wrap up a hat-trick of wins at the circuit. And when asked in the post-race press conference if he agreed that it had been a perfect day for the team, he said: “I think so – there were not really many issues during the race. “Sometimes when you came up to lap people it was pretty difficult because here [it] is pretty low downforce and we seemed to lose grip, so it was pretty hard to get past people. “But apart from that everything went well, the car was good and it was a nice race. “It was a perfect day for the team, a 1-2 and we did everything right today.” Ferrari’s dominant showing came just a week after it was thoroughly beaten by its British rival on the lower downforce Monza circuit. Raikkonen says the team expected to be back on form at Spa and says such circuits play to the strengths of the F2007. “We knew that we were going to be much stronger here than at Monza,” he said. “We know the reasons why we cannot challenge them [McLaren] at those sort of tracks, Monaco, Monaco and Montreal, and hopefully we can fix that problem for next year. “Here it is more to do with the aerodynamics and our car is very strong in that area so any circuits like this it is going to be okay for us." The Finn's win closes his points deficit to title leader Lewis Hamilton to 13 with 30 points still up for grabs. ITV.com
