Italian Cup: Roma overcome Milan to reach Final (English/Italian) Print E-mail
Thursday, 01 February 2007
Roma beat MilanRoma have booked a place in the final of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night (Thursday morning AEDT) after beating AC Milan 3-1 for a 5-3 aggregate win in their semi-final clash.

New signing Ronaldo did not play for the Rossoneri who were quickly exposed by Luciano Spalletti's side.

Alessandro Mancini opened the scoring after eight minutes for the Eternal City club after a defensive mix-up between Alessandro Costacurta and Dida.

Alberto Gilardino equalised for the visitors with a shot from outside the area after 17 minutes.

Midfielder Simone Perrotta quickly restored Roma's lead with a tap-in after Dida had saved a Francesco Totti shot.

And David Pizarro's strike just after the interval from long range sealed the win.

In the final the Giallorossi look set to face Inter Milan who take a 3-0 first-leg lead into the home leg of their semi-final with Sampdoria.

It's the third consecutive season that Roma have reached the final.  PA Sport

In Italian: Roma, terza finale consecutiva

A segno Mancini, Gilardino, Perrotta e Pizarro.
