Chievo have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia on away goals after drawing 1-1 with Reggina in the second leg of their fourth-round clash.

After a 2-2 draw in the first leg, Simone Tiribocchi's ninth-minute opener put the hosts in a powerful position.

Antonio Giosa brought the scores level after 85 minutes to set up a tense finale, but Reggina could not muster the winner that would have sent them through.

Sampdoria will join Chievo in the next round after completing a 3-2 victory over Palermo.

A 1-0 win in the first meeting meant they started the game ahead and they soon underlined their dominance.

A 14th-minute effort from Francesco Flachi and Christian Zenoni's 34th-minute strike put the visitors in an unassailable lead in the first half, before Flachi added a third nine minutes after the restart.

Palermo rallied as the game wore on but goals from Roberto Guana (65) and Franco Brienza (80) were not enough to haul them back into contention.
