AusItalian Luke Ronchi's Western Australia wrapped up the Victorian lower order in quick time to win their Pura Cup match by 288 runs before lunch on the final day at the MCG on Monday.
The Bushrangers started the day at 4-116, trailing by 336 runs and failed to put up any resistance, being bowled out for 164. Top-scorer David Hussey fell, caught behind to paceman Steve Magoffin, in the fourth over of the day without adding to his overnight score of 62 and from that point it was a procession. Three wickets fell in the space of 16 balls to reduce Victoria from 5-137 to 8-137 less than an hour into the day's play. Left-arm spinner Brad Hogg took two of those, dismissing wicketkeeper Matthew Wade for three and Shane Harwood for a duck, to continue his fine match. Hogg also picked up the final wicket, bowling Dirk Nannes (one) to complete the victory and give himself figures of 5-62. It gave him match figures of 8-83, as well as a quickfire 58 not out in WA's second innings, and he was named man of the match. AAP |
