Cricket: Qld call up Martin Love Print E-mail
Thursday, 06 July 2006
Former Australian Test batsman Martin Love has been selected for Queensland's one-day side for the Top End Series in Cairns.

The right-hander, a qualified physiotherapist, was set to travel with the Queensland team in a professional capacity but was chosen to re-join the playing ranks when all-rounder Lachlan Stevens withdrew due to commitments with English club Rishton.
Love last played limited-overs cricket for the Bulls against Victoria in February 2005.

The absence of Stevens has also given Australian coach John Buchanan's son, Michael, his chance to impress for Queensland, as he will line-up in a Twenty20 match against New Zealand A in Cairns.

Five members of the side that won the 2005-06 Pura Cup final will play in Cairns - batsmen Clinton Perren and Love, keeper Chris Hartley, leg-spinner Daniel Doran and fast bowler Ashley Noffke.

The matches in Cairns are part of the Top End Series in which 'A' teams from Australia, New Zealand, India and Pakistan will compete in a series of four day, one-day and Twenty20 games in Cairns from 15-27 July.

Queensland Bulls squad for Top End series, Cairns:
Ryan Broad, Michael Buchanan, Ben Cutting, Daniel Doran, Chris Hartley, Shane Jurgensen, Michael Kasprowicz, Martin Love, Brendan Nash, Ashley Noffke, Clinton Perren, Nathan Reardon, Nathan Rimmington, Grant Sullivan
