Pakistan A has started its first innings well in the Top End Series match against Australia A in Darwin after the home side piled on a massive total of 6-510 - which included centuries to Brad Haddin and Shane Watson - before declaring on the second day. Mohammed Hafeez and Rafatullah Mohmand got Pakistan A off to a sound beginning following the declaration by Australia A, as the openers put on 71 before paceman Mitchell Johnson claimed the first scalp in the 21st over. Mohmand fell to the lanky Queenslander for 39 after offering a chance to keeper Haddin, but Pakistan A recovered quickly, with Hafeez (86 not out) clubbing 12 fours and a six and Shahid Yousuf (30) undefeated at stumps as the visitors reached 1-165. In State cricket news, Chris Hartley will emulate the feat of one if his heroes by captaining Queensland in the Top End Series. (sportal.com.au) |
