Former England and Manchester United striker Andy Cole is reported to be on the verge of signing for A-League club Queensland Roar in the coming weeks.
Roar chief executive officer Lawrence Oudendyk is hopeful of securing Cole for a seven-week guest stint. 36-year-old Cole, currently plying his trade with English Championship club Birmingham City, is likely to accept a Queensland offer, with Roar agent Rob Jansen already in talks with representatives of the former England forward. But the Roar would be more than happy to snare Cole despite his chequered record since leaving United in 2001. Since his departure from the Red Devils, the former Newcastle United goalscorer has played for Blackburn, Fulham, Manchester City and Portsmouth, before being loaned out to Birmingham City in March this year. "I like Andy Cole because he's ex-Man United – they're a much loved club in Australia," Oudendyk said. CourierMail In Italian: Andy Cole chiuderà in AustraliaDopo raffiche di gol e prestazioni esaltanti Andy Cole potrebbe decidere di chiudere la propria carriera lontano dalla Premier League.
