(sportal) The Queensland Roar have snared their first win of the A-League Pre-Season Cup after downing the New Zealand Knights 2-1 at North Harbour Stadium.

The Roar scored twice in a five-minute period early in the second half, and though Darren Bazeley pulled one back for the hosts soon after, they held on to secure seventh spot.

After some impressive performances throughout the Pre-Season Cup, the Knights will be disappointed with their final match before the start of the season.

The Roar will face Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium in their opening A-League 2006-07 season clash, while the Knights host the Jets.

A late goal from substitute striker Danny Allsopp has given Melbourne Victory a 1-0 win over Perth Glory at Olympic Park, securing fifth spot in the A-League Pre-Season Cup.
