The Newcastle Jets and Queensland Roar have fought out a dramatic 1-1 draw at Energy Australia Stadium. Both teams found the net in the second half, with Reinaldo's 70th-minute opener cancelled out by a Joel Griffiths free kick late in the contest. Reinaldo's goal came when the Roar counter-attacked through Matthew McKay, who found Simon Lynch on the left. Lynch picked out an unmarked Reinaldo, who beat Ante Covic with a well-placed shot in the 70th minute. But after Roar captain Stuart McLaren was sent off Griffiths slotted home the equaliser from a fine free kick in the dying minutes. Queensland coach Frank Farina was satisfied with the performance, particularly considering the Roar were forced to field a completely new back four. "We're probably disappointed in the end, after leading with five minutes to go," Farina said. "But I was pleased with a lot of things from the game." Jets coach Gary Van Egmond was delighted with Griffiths' classy goal. "It was a fabulous free kick and one which he's been practicing for many hours at practice sessions, so it's a good reward for hard work," Van Egmond said. Newcastle United Jets 1 (Griffiths 87)
