Adelaide United has suffered a case of déjà vu, after recording a one-all draw against Perth Glory at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday.
Adelaide took the lead in the 40th minute when cross-specialist Richie Alagich got onto the end of a ball in the box. But Perth displayed plenty of enthusiasm after the half-time break and Jamie Harnwell headed home the equalizer at the 69th minute. For the second week in a row the Reds thought they had secured the winner when an Isyan Erdogan shot found the back of the net during the dying second of injury time. But the 'score' was disallowed ensuring the home side would record another 1-1 result. Adelaide United (Alagich 40) A-League champions Melbourne Victory survived another disciplinary disaster - this time involving skipper Kevin Muscat - to grab a brave 1-1 draw with Wellington Phoenix at Telstra Dome on Saturday night. Muscat was sent off after just 35 minutes for committing two fouls in the space of 60 seconds, leaving his 10 teammates the job of hanging on to keep their season alive. And they did - though results on Sunday could alter that picture - defending courageously and even having a couple of chances to pinch an unlikely win. Muscat became the fourth Victory player to be given his marching orders this season after a bad challenge on Tim Brown earned the wrath of referee Peter Green. But for the second consecutive week, the Phoenix couldn't put away 10 men, and they had to even grab a draw the hard way after fighting back from a goal down. The Newcastle Jets and the Central Coast Mariners have played out an absorbing 0-0 draw in their round 14 Hyundai A-League clash at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Newcastle reserve striker Jason Hoffman went closest to scoring with a shot that came off the woodwork midway through the second half in a match that was dominated by tough defence and a tight contest in the midfield. The result sees the Mariners maintain top spot ahead in the Hyundai A-League just ahead of Queensland, who drew nil all with Sydney FC, while the point sees the Jets keep pace with the top four.
