ModaItalia - Celebration of Italian style at Metropolitan SouthTwenty fashion design students from Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE progressed to the finals of ModaItalia 2006 last night, after a stunning parade that showcased the very best of Queensland’s up and coming talent. The students will now represent the institute at ModaItalia 2006, where the eventual winner will be awarded a two week scholarship to the world-renowned Polimoda fashion institute in Florence, Italy.
Linda Brown, Institute Director of Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE said that the level of professionalism on show by the students was a reflection of the high quality of training provided at TAFE. “Tonight we saw an amazing array of talent and I was highly impressed with the quality of garments produced by the students. “Their enthusiasm and passion for fashion design has shone through in the garments they have produced. It is a testament to not only their creativity but also to the support and guidance of the staff at Metropolitan South that such talent is being guided into the Queensland fashion industry,” said Ms Brown.
The evening parade held at the Mt Gravatt campus, was attended by over 350 guests who were treated to fashions inspired by Italian lifestyle and culture. Fifty six students presented a total of 170 garments.
