Overlooking the Brisbane River, this mod-Italian restaurant is well-suited for romance, given its dreamy view and hushed, candlelit atmosphere. Owned and operated by Peter Keogh (of Noosa's Ma Mensa), Aquolina has a quality bloodline.

Chef Darryl Willmott's menu is fresh and appealing, with offerings such as a milk-fed veal scalloppine served with a black truffle sauce.

There are more than 40 wines by the glass to sort through, if you're of the decisive sort. Plus, Sunday afternoons see a hedonistic blend of cocktails and live jazz, a lovely way to see out the weekend.
